CONFESSION

"Okay okay, I did it. I killed Dr. Black - but Vivienne drove me to it. She kept going on about how we could use the money we could get from the Falcon to build a life together away from Elizabeth. I tried to ignore her - but she was right."

"I wasn't going to do anything about it. I mean, I didn't really believe the story anyway. But then while I was waiting for Vivienne, who should burst in but Black! He was ranting about how he had solved the riddle!"

"I couldn't believe it. He started telling me it all. How he wrote the clues down in the order that the rooms are laid out around the house - starting with the Hall and going clockwise. Then he noticed that the first letter of the second word of each sentence was capitalised when they shouldn't be. By reading those words in order - you got the message 'The Falcon Is Hidden In The Room That Rolls' ! The room that rolls - the Ballroom!"

"I said - 'So where is it then?' He pointed towards the large black piano and said 'Black is the colour it is hidden inside. Locked in the drawer that the key does not open.' The piano is black and the key that does not open the drawer is a piano key!"

"He was right ofcourse. I knew he must be. As he bent over to examine the piano - I felt greed overtake me. Seeing the rope nearby, I picked it up and wrapped it around his neck. I was woried for a moment when he put his hand in his pocket - presumably to get his gun - but it wasn't there! He must have left it somewhere."

"I knew that Vivienne would be back any moment - so I had to get rid of the body. I didn't want her to get mixed up in murder. So I threw the body into the cellar as quickly as I could and got back to the Ballroom just before she did."

"I thought that we had it made. I couldn't wait till the house would be empty and I could come back and get the statuette. But I hadn't counted on you solving the murder so quickly. Hopefully it will still be there when I get out of prison."
